RTD Board Elects 2016 Officers

Tom Tobiassen chosen as new Chair for RTD’s momentous year
Director Tobiassen is taking over from Director Chuck Sisk, who served as Board Chair for the last two years and did not seek an officer position.
''I am honored to be entrusted by my fellow Board members to lead the Board of Directors as we move into a very big year for RTD and the region with the opening of four rail and one, now open, bus rapid transit corridors,'' said newly elected Chair Tobiassen. ''I look forward to working with my fellow Board members, our RTD family and our constituents in a responsive, respectful and collaborative manner. Big things are happening at RTD in 2016 and it is tremendously exciting to be part of this historic time.''
The Board Officers chosen for 2016 are:
Chair, Tom Tobiassen
Tom Tobiassen was elected to the RTD Board of Directors in November 2008. He represents District F, located in the eastern portion of RTD and represents the largest portion of Aurora and portions of nearby unincorporated Arapahoe County. Director Tobiassen is a Systems Engineer with Zeta Associates, Inc. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, University College in 1988. Director Tobiassen's Civic activities include: Board member, Sand Creek Regional Greenway Foundation; Member Aurora Chamber of Commerce; President and Founder of Bicycle Aurora, Head Area Coordinator, Mission Viejo Neighborhood Watch; Mass Care Volunteer, American Red Cross, Mile High Chapter. In the past, Director Tobiassen served as a Commissioner of the City of Aurora, Planning and Zoning Commission; Chairman of City of Aurora Citizens' Water Advisory Committee, and was a past Secretary on the City of Aurora Citizens' Budget Advisory Committee.
Director Tobiassen and his wife Carol have been married for forty years and have two adult children, Kristen and Michael.
1st Vice Chair, Larry Hoy
Director Larry Hoy was elected in November 2010. He represents District J which is located in the northern RTD area and includes all of Federal Heights and Northglenn, nearly all of Westminster, portions of western Thornton, and portions of unincorporated Adams and Jefferson Counties.
2nd Vice Chair, Barbara Deadwyler
Director Barbara Deadwyler was elected to the RTD Board in November, 2010. She represents District B, the northeastern portion of RTD, comprised of Aurora within Adams County, City & County of Denver, and unincorporated Adams County lying south of Denver.
Secretary, Paul Solano
Director Paul Solano was elected to the RTD Board in November 2012. Director Solano represents District K, which is located in the most northeastern portion of the RTD area and represents all of Commerce City, all of the portions of Brighton and Lochbuie that are within the District, portions of Thornton, and portions of unincorporated Adams County.
Treasurer, Tina Francone
Director Tina Francone was elected to the RTD Board of Directors in November 2014. She represents District N, serving the southwest metro area of Evergreen and Jefferson County.
RTD is governed by a 15-member elected policy Board of Directors. Directors are elected to a four-year term and represent a specific district. Officer positions on the Board are voted on annually. See full biographies and more information about the RTD Board of Directors.
