Colorado Classic bike race disrupts bus & rail lines this weekend

Both Denver stages of the Colorado Classic pro bicycle road race this weekend will affect RTD services, with delays on bus routes on both Saturday, August 18th and Sunday August 19th and a temporary closure of L Line light rail service on Sunday, August 19th.

Stage three of the race will affect service in Denver and Lakewood from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 18. Delays are expected on the 16, 28, 31, 51, 76 and 100 routes as the race crosses 13th Street and Ford Street in Golden. Route 32 may experience a detour west of Sheridan Boulevard in Wheat Ridge.

BUS routes affected:

Delays on Saturday, August 18th for routes 16, 28, 31, 51, 76, and 100, as the race crosses on 32nd Ave & Ford St in Golden.

Delays on Sunday, August 19th for routes FreeMallRide, 0, 8, 10, 15, 19, 20, 28, 32, 38, 44, 48, 52 as this event crosses Blake St.

Detours on Sunday for routes 12, 24, 32, 43, and 44.

The final stage will affect service from approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug 19th while riders complete 10 laps between RiNo and City Park. The course will be closed to all traffic, including cross traffic. Routes 12, 24, 32, 43 and 44 will be detoured around the event. L Line service will be suspended between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., resuming after 3 p.m.

RAIL line affected Sunday, August 19th:
L Line - 9:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Bus shuttles will not be available during the closure.

Signage and information for customers will be posted at all affected stations, and passengers are encouraged to allot extra time for their trips.
