Description Of Work:
Responsible for safe and timely operation of both automatic and standard transmission vehicles, within a scheduled run, or special service. Requires a thorough knowledge of passenger safety, ability to maintain courtesy under stress, when dealing with the public. Must be able to courteously answer questions and solve transit-related problems of passengers and practice defensive driving habits. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the Drug and Alcohol policy
Duties & Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL:
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of coach for mechanical problems, prior to beginning scheduled run. Maintain a working knowledge of streets, bus routes, and bus stops within the Coal Creek Canyon and Arvada area, including connecting routes at all intersecting points.
Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all RTD operating rules and regulations.
Provide safe, timely and courteous service to the passengers of the RTD system.
Accurate and legible completion of accident and incident reports at the end of scheduled shift.
Responsible for completing farebox, passenger, operator defect reports and maintenance repair orders.
Issue passenger information flier, transfers and survey cards, as required.
Maintain and record passenger counts, operate farebox and record data, as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum one-year professional driving experience, within the last three years, is desirable. Experience to include, but is not limited to. driving heavy equipment, tractor trailer, school bus or transit bus with daily public contact.
Must have knowledge of safety and vehicle operation procedures.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to work well with people.
Must be able to read and write English.
Must be able to achieve the required minimum scores on required tests and interviews.
Possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and provide verification of an acceptable driving record with no more than five (5) points assessed against it in past two (2) years.
Must be able to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Colorado Commercial Driver License (CDL). Class B-P2 Large Bus Endorsement.
Must be able to meet all District qualifications, including those specified by the Department of Transportation.
